Geoff Schroeder

    Associate Attorney

    Geoff Schroeder’s areas of practice include municipal, state, and local government law, planning and zoning, administrative law, water law, criminal prosecution, and bird law. He assists the firm in representing and advising numerous cities, fire and other special taxing districts in the areas of land use, contracts, eminent domain, joint powers agreements, purchasing, and general counsel matters.  Mr. Schroeder also assists the firm with criminal prosecution for the cities of Fruitland, Homedale, Marsing, McCall, and Mountain Home.

    Mr. Schroeder earned his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Boise State University in 2012.  After graduation, he worked with the firm consulting on local land use and other issues for municipal and local government clients, including drafting comprehensive plans and zoning ordinance revisions, and testifying on legislation affecting local governments. Mr. Schroeder’s consulting role continued while he attended the University of Idaho College of Law, from which he graduated in 2018. In addition to serving as a limited license legal intern for the firm his third year, Mr. Schroeder’s law school studies included water law, land use law, administrative law, election law, legislation, federal courts, employment law, and complex litigation.

    Mr. Schroeder’s local government experience includes being elected to two terms to the Mountain Home City Council in 2007 and 2013, serving on the Library Board and the Impact Fee advisory committee, representing the City of Mountain Home on the inaugural Water District 161 Advisory committee, and 8 years serving on the Elmore County Republican Central Committee.  During his local government service, Mr. Schroeder has worked closely with a number of legislators and state officials on issues concerning local governments including taxation, budgeting, and local government authority.

    Mr. Schroeder was raised in Kamiah, and has lived in Mountain Home since 1990.  He served on active duty in the Idaho Army National Guard for 21 years, including a deployment to Iraq in 2004-2005 with Idaho’s 116th Brigade.
